Arnab Chakravarti, MD, chair of the MGH Radiation Oncology Therapy Group (ROTG) Brain Tumor Research Committee, recently received a $2 million, five-year grant from the Brain Tumor Funders' Collaborative (BTFC) to support collaborative, innovative and novel approaches to brain tumor research. Chakravarti currently leads a collaborative effort between the RTOG and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) to identify resistance mechanisms in primary malignant brain tumors.

Partners HealthCare received the 2005 Award for Excellence in Human Research Protection by the Health Improvement Institute, in recognition of excellence in promoting the well-being of individuals who participate in research studies. Partners was recognized for its best practice — the Human Research Quality Improvement Program, which was developed by Delia Wolf, MD, of MGH Research Management. The program, which Wolf developed in 2000 as a graduate student at the MGH Institute for Health Professions, was the prototype for the quality improvement program implemented by the Office for Human Research Protections at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
