In memoriam: Perry J. Culver, MD

Perry J. Culver, MD, formerly of the MGH Gastroenterology Department, died Jan. 15. He was 90 years old.

After graduating from Harvard Medical School (HMS) in 1941, Culver joined the MGH as an intern and remained at the hospital until he retired in 1997. Well-known for his clinical work at the hospital, he also was deeply committed to medical education and taught popular courses at HMS covering topics such as laboratory medicine.

Culver served as associate dean of Admissions at HMS and was a special consultant in medical education in Iran and Vietnam. He also was an honorary member of the Los Angeles County College of Surgeons.
