MGHers wear red for healthy hearts

As the rest of the nation honored "Go Red" Day Feb. 3, MGHers did their part to support cardiovascular disease awareness in women by wearing many brilliant shades of red to work .

"Go Red" Day is part of the annual American Heart Association's "Go Red for Women" campaign which the MGH promoted last week through a variety of heart-healthy activities. "Heart disease is the number one killer of women, leading the next seven causes of death combined," says Kate Traynor, program director for the Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Center at the MGH. "The good news is that even modifying one of the risk factors can reduce a woman's potential for heart disease."

Below, one of the many groups of MGHers who posed for official "Go Red" Day photos.
