    MGH Parkinson disease patients recently have made a commitment to a healthier lifestyle with their participation in a new outreach effort for patients with the illness — a tai chi and yoga class designed to provide support through exercise.
  • Seniors get a helping hand with healthy eating
    Making healthy eating choices is a challenging task for many people, and a group of seniors recently received some expert guidance on how to make the right choices. On Dec. 15, staff at the Whole Foods Market — a supermarket specializing in natural and organic foods — in Charles River Plaza hosted a guided tour of the store for participants in the MGH EatWISE, Eat Smart program.
  • New director of MGH Chaplaincy appointed
    Michael McElhinny, MDiv, has been selected as the new director of MGH Chaplaincy, leading the department that meets the religious and spiritual needs of patients, families, visitors and employees.
  • Supporting those affected by alcoholism
    According to national studies, approximately 17 million Americans abuse alcohol or are alcoholic. Fifty-three percent of people in the United States report that one or more of their relatives has a drinking problem. And one of every four children in the United States is affected by substance abuse in his or her family.
  • MGH Cancer Center creates multilingual materials for patients
    The MGH Cancer Center is developing a project that will transform the way women from different cultures receive important medical information at the MGH and throughout Boston creating materials about women's cancers and translating them into 10 different languages.
  • MGH blood donor inducted into Baxter Hall of Fame
    Susan DePippo, a longtime donor at the MGH Blood Donor Center, recently was inducted into the Baxter Healthcare Corporation's Donation Hall of Fame, currently in its eighth year of recognizing individuals nationwide who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to blood donation.
  • Calendar honors MGH nursing Magnet status
    The MGH has been honored for its 2003 designation as a Magnet nursing hospital with an appearance in the inaugural 2006 issue of the Magnet Recognition Program's annual calendar.
