MGH physician named medical director of Red Sox

The World Series Champion Boston Red Sox team announced Feb. 16 that Thomas J. Gill, MD, of MGH Orthopædics, has been named medical director for the team. In addition to his direct medical care of the players, he will coordinate the team's medical operations, which includes hiring team physicians and medical consultants, overseeing the team's training staff and supervising the team's strength and conditioning and injury prevention programs. He also will serve as co-director of Medical Research for the team, with the goal of developing new injury prevention and rehabilitation programs.
