A tribute to H. Richard Nesson, MD
MGH employees and staff are invited to a tribute to the
life and accomplishments of H. Richard Nesson, MD, Dec. 4, 4 pm, in the Cabot Atrium, BWH,
45 Francis St. Nesson, who died in October, was a founding architect of Partners
HealthCare System, serving as its first CEO from 1994 to 1997 and then as president from
1995 to 1997. A reception will be held in the Lower Atrium immediately following the
service.

What's happening United Way deadline extended
The deadline for returning United Way pledge cards has been extended to Dec. 10. Pledge
cards can be returned through departmental United Way representatives; by mail to Pamela
Bingham-Freeman of Community Benefits, CRP-600; or deposited in drop-off boxes located in
the Main Lobby, WACC Lobby, Payroll on Clinics 1, security desk at CNY Building 149 and at

Domestic violence vigil
The MGH community is invited to a service of remembrance and healing for those affected by
domestic violence Dec. 4, 12:15 to 12:45 pm, in the MGH Chapel. For information, call

Children with disease
The Friends of the MGH Cancer Center will host the next of its DIALOGUES discussion
series, Dec. 8, at 5:30 pm, in the Walcott Conference Rooms. The topic will be "Kids

MGPO quarterly meeting
All MGPO physicians and employees are invited to attend the organization's quarterly staff
meeting, Dec. 2, 5 to 6:30 pm, in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. For more information, call

World AIDS Day
Nursing staff of the MGH Infectious Disease Unit will host a table in recognition of World
AIDS Day, Dec. 1, 9 am to 5 pm, in the Central Lobby. Information will be available about
HIV testing and treatment, clinical trials and programs for people living with HIV. For

Industry budget preparation
The Clinical Research Program will sponsor "Industry Budget Preparation" Dec.
11, in the Wellman Conference Room. The presentation, which looks at the budget process
from the perspective of the industrial research sponsor, takes place 11 am to noon. An
interactive workshop will follow from noon to 1:30 pm. Registration is required for the

Repair tag sweepstakes
To provide better, more timely service to broken equipment, MGH Biomedical Engineering
will sponsor a sweepstakes, encouraging appropriate use of the yellow "repair
request" tags. To enter the contest, attach completed "repair request" tags
to equipment and leave for pickup. All tags will be entered into a monthly drawing the next takes
place Dec. 14. Prizes include movie passes and gift certificates. To order additional
