School vacation program offers adventures in child care

Whether touring the studio at WHDH, Channel 7, exploring exhibits at the Museum of Science, checking out the progress of the Big Dig or watching a Shakespeare play, children attending the MGH School Age Vacation Program will be having fun this February and April.

Sponsored by the MGH Backup Child Care Center, the program is offered to children, ages 6 to 12, of MGH and Partners employees and takes place during school vacation weeks Feb. 16 to 19 and April 19 to 23 7:30 am to 6 pm. The program features many planned activities and field trips, keeping kids busy and supervised while parents continue to work.

Costs are $120 for the February program, $150 for the April program and $270 for both. Early registration is necessary. Reservations will be accepted beginning Dec. 7 by calling 4-8414.

The MGH Backup Child Care Center, located in the Warren Lobby, provides services for children between 15 months and 12 years old. Established to provide emergency child care to MGH employees, the center operates Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 6 pm. This November, the center also opened its doors to children of patients and, beginning Dec. 1, will accept children of Partners employees. In January, the center plans to extend its weekday hours until 8 pm and open Saturdays 8 am to 2 pm. For more information about the MGH Backup Child Care Center, call 4-7100.
