Maxwell and Eleanor Blum Patient and Family Learning Center opens

As of March 1, patients, visitors and employees now can take advantage of the many patient education and health-related resources the Blum Patient and Family Learning Center has to offer.

Equipped with several computer terminals and a wealth of printed materials, the center offers information from the simplest pamphlet to the most sophisticated computer program – all housed in a warm and friendly environment. The center is located in the Main Corridor between the Main Lobby and Coffee Central and is staffed by a patient education specialist and a health information librarian along with many volunteers.

"The center truly will be a 'hub' of patient education at the MGH," says Sally Millar, RN, director of the Blum Center. "It is a centralized place where patients, family members and clinicians can come to learn about health and illnesses. We also can direct visitors to any of the other locations in the hospital that house additional patient education information."

The center is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm, Thursdays until 9 pm and Saturdays 11 am to 3 pm. For more information about the center and its resources, call 4-PFLC (7352).
