MGH in the news
Reporter Mike Barnicle will give an account of his experience as an MGH patient on the WCVB Channel 5 program "Chronicle," which is expected to air March 1, at 7:30 pm. Barnicle was admitted to the MGH for open heart surgery in December 1998.

Free family concert
In celebration of Children and Healthcare Week, the MGH Pediatric Service will host a free family concert starring Livingston Taylor March 18, 6:30 pm, in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Tickets are available in the Warren Library, Bulfinch Basement, and in the Bigelow 10 Nursing office. Seating is limited, and only four tickets will be allowed per person. MGPO staff meeting
All MGPO physicians and employees are invited to attend the organization's quarterly staff meeting March 3, 5 to 6:30 pm, in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Speakers include W. Gerald Austen, MD, MGPO chairman and CEO; Daniel Ginsburg, MGPO president and COO; Samuel O. Thier, MD, president and CEO of Partners; James J. Mongan, MD, MGH president; James Richter, MD, MGPO medical director; Jeffrey Weilburg, MD, MGPO associate medical director; and Joan Sapir, vice president of MGH/MGPO Customer Service and Practice Support. Leg health day
The MGH General Store will host a leg health day March 4, 11 am to 4 pm. Representatives from Jobst Compression Stockings will be available to answer questions about tired and aching legs and spider and varicose veins. All Jobst products will be 20 percent off, and a special gift will be included with each purchase. Free samples of Eucerin skin cream and Aquaphor ointment also will be available. Bulfinch Temp payroll changes
The payroll function supporting the Bulfinch Temporary Service recently moved from 101 Merrimac St. to Clinics 117, consolidating with the Corporate Payroll Department of Partners Finance. Although the office has relocated, the procedure for submitting time slips has not changed. All slips must be deposited each Monday by 9 am. For weeks with Monday holidays, time slips should be submitted by noon the previous Friday. Weekend workers should submit their time slips at the close of the Saturday shift.

Temps should use the time slip boxes at the following locations: MGH across from the Credit Union on Clinics 1 and outside the Mail Services office, Gray basement; and CNY adjacent to the Human Resources reception area, seventh floor east. Temps working off-site who do not have access to any one of these boxes may fax their slips to the Payroll Office at 4-5053.

For questions relating to budget charges, paychecks, direct deposit or other pay issues, call the Payroll Office at 6-5859 or 4-6326. For information about temporary staffing including performance issues, evaluation or recommendations call one of the Bulfinch Temporary Service staffing specialists at 6-5858.

Coding-related courses
Partners Corporate Training will host a registration booth for its coding-related classes, 3:30 to 6 pm, at the following Partners-affiliated institutions: March 8
Central Lobby at MGH; March 9 cafeteria entrance at BWH; and March 10 in the atrium, CNY Building 149. The available courses, offered in collaboration with Northeastern University Health Management Information Services, will be Anatomy and Physiology with Lab 2, Monday evenings; Anatomy and Physiology with Lab 3, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Saturdays; Pathophysiology 2, Monday evenings; ICD-9 CM Coding 2, Wednesday evenings; and CPT-4 Coding, Monday evenings. Running and cycling meeting
The MGH Running Club and Cycling Team will hold a joint team meeting March 10, 6 to 9 pm, in the Haber Room, Blake 1. CPR training at Chelsea
MGH
·Chelsea HealthCare Center will offer the following CPR training courses for the MGH community: CPR Bystander Training (six-hour course) March 1 and 3, 6 to 9 pm; and CPR for Health Care Providers Retraining (two-hour course) March 4, 7 to 9 am, 9 to 11 am or 11 am to 1 pm. Classes take place in the fourth floor conference room, MGH·Chelsea HealthCare Center, 151 Everett Ave. To register, call (781) 485-6215.
