United Way campaign
success
Because of the success of this year's campaign, the MGH is one of the few organizations to receive the United Way's Presidents Award, which is given to organizations that increase employee participation and donations by 10 percent or more. According to Joan Quinlan, director of MGH Community Benefits and 1998 chair of the United Way campaign, the MGH Social Services Department will be receiving $14,000 from the United Way through the Partners in Caring program. Through this program, hospitals that increase fund-raising efforts by at least 4 percent receive half of that increase back from the United Way to support the hospital's social services. "Our success as the top hospital in Boston for contributing to the United Way exemplifies the commitment and dedication that MGHers have for helping those in need," says Quinlan. "Our thanks and appreciation go to all of the employees and staff who demonstrated such enthusiasm and energy in making this campaign even better than before." |
