MGH in the news As a world-renowned academic hospital,
the MGH often is featured in the news locally, nationally and internationally.
Recently, the work of several MGH physicians and researchers has been showcased in
prominent magazines, newspapers and television broadcasts. Below are a few of the
highlights:
- A groundbreaking 1978 study focusing on preventing
anesthesia mishaps, led by Jeffrey Cooper, PhD, of MGH Biomedical Engineering, was
heralded in the Feb. 1 issue of The New Yorker in an article titled "When
Doctors Make Mistakes."
- Allen Lapey, MD, of Pediatrics, and Edwin Cassem,
MD, chief of Psychiatry, were profiled in the February issue of Boston Magazine,
along with many other MGH physicians listed as top doctors in the Boston area.
- Cutting-edge AIDS research done by Bruce Walker,
MD, and colleagues in the Partners AIDS Research Center was featured in a NOVA documentary
called "Surviving AIDS," which initially aired Feb. 2.
- A paper published in the February issue of Nature
Genetics about MGH-based research on female mice that could reveal clues to healthier
