MGH, Partners, Institute childcare center opening
The Children's Quarters of the MGH Institute of Health Professions, a licensed childcare center providing developmentally appropriate care to children 2 to 6 years of age, will open Feb. 5, 2002. Located in the Catherine Filene Shouse Building formerly Building 36 at CNY the center is open to children of members of the Charlestown community and of MGH, Partners and Institute employees. Weight management class
MGH Nutrition Services will offer "Winning at the Losing Game," a 10-week weight management class, beginning Jan. 22, 2002. The class will meet Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 pm and will include nutrition education taught by a registered dietitian, an exercise program supervised by a physical therapist and martial arts instructor, behavioral modification and tips for lifestyle change. The course fee is $240 for MGH employees and $265 for all others. For more information or to register, call (617) 726-2779.

EAP work/life seminar
The MGH Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will sponsor a series of work/life seminars throughout the coming year. An estate planning presentation will be held Jan. 10, 2002, from noon to 1 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. Jeffrey Bloom, an attorney at Margolis & Cohen, will discuss the basics of estate planning, including how eldercare planning can coincide with estate planning. MDS Proteomics-Partners collaborative research
Partners HealthCare and MDS Proteomics (MDSP) have established a research alliance. Partners investigators are invited to submit collaborative research proposals for projects that will benefit from funding and access to MDSP's expertise. Applications will be accepted for individual projects with budgets of up to $200,000 per year. All applications are due by Jan. 4, 2002. Roman Catholic holiday Mass schedule
The MGH Chaplaincy will host a performance of carol singing Dec. 22, at 3 pm prior to the regular 4 pm Mass. Regularly scheduled Masses will be held at 4 pm Dec. 22, 23, 24 and Christmas Day, as well as Dec. 30, 31 and Jan. 1, 2002. All Masses take place in the MGH Chapel on Ellison 1.
