What's Happening

Flu vaccination program
Because the flu season is starting late this year, MGH employees and volunteers still have time to be vaccinated against the flu through the MGH Occupational Health Service. MGHers who have direct interaction with patients are particularly encouraged to be vaccinated. Vaccinations are available by appointment Monday through Friday, from 7 am to 5 pm. For more information or to make an appointment, call (617) 726-2217.

MGH ethics forum
The MGH Ethics Task Force will sponsor an MGH ethics forum, "Stem Cell Research and Clinical Applications: What's all the Fuss About?" Dec. 19, from 4:30 to 6 pm in the Clinics building Lower Amphitheater. Refreshments will be provided. For more information, contact Matt Girotto at (781) 433-3744 or send e-mail to mgirotto@partners.org.

Hotline correction
An article in last week's Hotline, about the national consortium formed to study factors controlling burn and trauma recovery, should have included additional information. The $6.7 million – given as a grant by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences to the project – is the first portion of what is expected to be $37 million in overall support for a five-year project led by Ronald G. Tompkins, MD, ScD, director of the MGH Sumner Redstone Burn Center and chief of the MGH Trauma Service.

MGH General Store holiday sale
The MGH General Store will hold its annual holiday sale Dec. 15, from 6 to 9:30 pm, and throughout the day Dec. 20. For more information, call (617) 726-2227.

Partners Information Systems Training now has released its winter 2002 computer workshop training schedule for Microsoft Office applications. All classes will be held at 185 Charles River Plaza. For more information or to register, visit http://is.partners.org/training or call (866) 227-1085.
