What's Happening

Satcher to address racial disparity
The MGH will present a forum about racial disparities in health status Dec. 16, from noon to 1:30 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Keynote speaker David Satcher, MD, former U.S. surgeon general, will discuss how the health care industry can address the issue of disparities in health status and access to care. The forum will be teleconferenced at MGH Revere, MGH Chelsea and MGH Charlestown health centers. For more information, call (617) 724-6424.

Holiday songfest
Patients, families, visitors and MGHers are invited to participate in the MGH holiday songfest, Dec. 19, noon to 1 pm in the Main Corridor. The event is sponsored by MGH Chaplaincy.

Endoscopy memorial lecture
A lecture in memory of Marci Christensen, RN, an MGH nurse for more than 30 years, will be presented Dec. 17, from 7:30 to 8:30 am in the Bigelow Amphitheater. The title of the lecture is "Recent Advances in Interventional ERC." A reception will follow in the Isselbacher Library on Blake 4. For more information, call (617) 726-3732.

Clinical Research seminar
The Clinical Research Program will sponsor "Seminars in Physiologic Investigation" Jan. 16, from 3:30 to 5 pm in the Walcott 2 and 3 Conference Rooms. The course will consist of 11 weekly seminars covering state-of-the-art techniques for physiologic investigation in humans. The seminar will provide fellows and junior investigators with the opportunity to learn about the specific principles, tools and methodologies of physiologic investigation used in conducting clinical research.
