Names like Robby, Ray and Mr. Roboto didn't make the cut for the new name of the Radiology robot that has been delivering films from the Image Service Center in the Blake sub-basement to the Dodd Interpretation Area on Blake 2. A committee comprised of employees from around the hospital deemed the robot DOC, which stands for Deliveries On Call. The name was chosen after the committee sifted through more than 150 submissions in the "Name the Robot" contest conducted last month.

"We were surprised at how many submissions we received," says Barbara Hubley, unit operations manager for Radiology. "We wanted to find a friendly name that was short and would have some meaning to the medical field and the robot's function. DOC seemed to fit."

DOC is slated to begin other routes throughout the hospital sometime next year.
