Diabetes Awareness Day
The MGH Diabetes Center is hosting a Diabetes Awareness Day Dec. 10, from 8:30 am to 4 pm in the Main Corridor. Information will be available about diabetes risk factors, treatments, nutrition, research and commonly asked questions related to diabetes.There also will be a list of diabetes resources in the community and on the web. Nutritionists and diabetes nurses will be available to answer questions. For more information, call Barbara Steiner at (617) 724-5985.

Spanish for Health Care classes
Registration for Spanish for Health Care winter classes has begun. New beginner, advanced beginner and intermediate classes are available and will begin the week of Jan. 13. Cost is $50 for 10 weeks. Payment, by check or money order only, must be made at the time of registration. Register in person at MGH Training, 185 Charles River Plaza, second floor, from 8:30 am to 5 pm. Endoscopy presentation
A presentation entitled, "Duodenoscope-Assisted Cholangiopancreotoscopy" will be presented Dec. 17, from 7:30 to 8:30 am in the Bigelow Amphitheater. A reception will follow in the Isselbacher Library on Blake 4. For more information, call (617) 726-3732.

Clinical Research Program seminar series
The Clinical Research Program is sponsoring "Infection Control Principles and Practice in Clinical Research" Dec. 11, from 11:45 am to 1 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. Robert Rigdon, RN, director of the MGH Infection Control Unit, (internal access only) will discuss standard precautions, as well as infection control practices when handling specimens or performing phlebotomy. JCAHO standards require infection control training for all clinical research nurses and coordinators who handle human specimens, and re-training must occur annually. This lecture meets standards for initial training or annual re-training. Lunch will be served. For more information or to register, call (617) 726-1669.

CRP protocol lecture
The Human Research Committee and the Clinical Research Program (CRP) will sponsor "What Does the Institutional Review Board Really Want? Holiday songfest
Patients, families, visitors and MGHers are invited to participate in the MGH holiday songfest, Dec. 19, noon to 1 pm in the Main Corridor. The event is sponsored by the MGH Chaplaincy.
