Roger Hajjar, MD, of the MGH Cardiovascular Research Center, recently was awarded a grant from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. Hajjar's project, "Optical and MRI Imaging of Stem Cells in Diseased Hearts," will help advance the field of stem cell biology and cell-based therapies for the treatment of cardiovascular disease.

James Luisi, executive director of the North End Community Health Center, was awarded the Aaron Brown Memorial Public Service Award. The award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the community health care field. Luisi was instrumental in getting legislation passed to establish special Medicare rates for community health centers.
