Interfaith
memorial service
MGH Chaplaincy will offer an interfaith memorial service of prayer, song,
readings and reflection focused on the Sept. 11 tragedy, Nov. 13, at noon
in the MGH Chapel. A light lunch will be provided after the service with

Senior Health Family-Caregiver Support Program
The
MGH Senior Health Family-Caregiver Support Program will sponsor "A
Guide to Emotional Survival When You're Caring for Someone You Love,"
presented by Avrene L. Brandt, PhD, author of "Caregiver's Reprieve,"
Dec. 3 in the Walcott Conference Rooms on WACC 1. Refreshments will be
served at 5 pm, and the program will be held from 5:30 to 7 pm. A book
signing and discussion will follow. Seating is limited, and registration

Presentation
on IRB issues
The MGH Clinical Research Program and the Human Research Committee Internal
Review Board (IRB) will sponsor "IRB Issues for the Bench and Desk
Scientist" Nov. 19, from 4 to 5 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. The
presentation will be given by Libby Hohmann, MD, chair and director of
Partners' IRBs. Topics will include IRB exemptions, expedited reviews,
waivers of consent and confidentiality precautions. Registration is recommended.

caregiver educational offerings
The MGH Center for Clinical and Professional Development will offer several
classes throughout the month of November. "Caregiver Skills for the
New Millennium" will be held Nov. 16, from 8 am to 4:30 pm at 185
Charles River Plaza. The program is designed to promote organizational
and professional excellence in today's health care environment. "Advances
in the Management of the Poly-traumatized Patient," a two-day program,
will be held Nov. 29, from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, and Nov. 30, from 7:30
am to 4 pm. Both sessions will be held at 185 Charles River Plaza. The
program will address the continuum of care from resuscitation through
critical illness phases of recovery. Pre-registration for all classes

Longwood
Symphony Orchestra benefit concert
The Longwood Symphony Orchestra, "the orchestra of Boston's medical
community," will perform a concert Dec. 1, at 8 pm at Jordan Hall.
Proceeds will benefit The Hospitality Program, which provides free or
low-cost housing in volunteer host homes to the families of patients receiving
medical care at Boston hospitals. The program will feature a performance
by guest pianist Judith Gordon and will be hosted by Richard Knisely of
WGBH's "Classical Performances." Tickets are $10 for students
and seniors and $20 for all others. For more information or to purchase

Luncheon
for senior women faculty
The MGH Office for Women's Careers will sponsor its first networking luncheon
for senior women faculty Dec. 7, from noon to 1 pm in Bulfinch 222. The
event is an opportunity for senior women faculty members to meet, network
