  • Compassion in action: United Way helps patients
    The United Way is well known for bringing hope and help to needy individuals in Boston and its surrounding areas. Just as the MGH United Way campaign kicks into high gear, programs are under way that highlight the importance of United Way funding not only in the community, but also at the MGH itself.
  • Helping hands: MGH caregivers reach out to Boston's homeless
    A team of MGH clinicians has taken their efforts in a different direction: they provide medical care and comfort to Boston's homeless population. The MGH Homeless Clinic, created in 1988 and operating through the MGH Medical Walk-In Unit, is one of three hospital-based primary care centers for the homeless throughout the city.
  • Memorial service for pediatric patients
    Families, friends and caregivers of MGH pediatric patients gathered for the 10th annual Pediatric, Neonatal and Obstetric Memorial Service Nov. 4. The special ceremony was sponsored by MassGeneral Hospital for Children's Comfort and Support After Loss bereavement team.
  • Vincent symposium offers women's health information
    The 18th annual MGH Vincent Medical Symposium, an educational forum dedicated to women's health issues, was held Oct. 22 and attracted more than 100 guests. Co-sponsored by the Vincent Club and Vincent Hospital Board of Managers, the program was moderated by Isaac Schiff, MD, chief of the MGH Vincent Obstetrics and Gynecology Service.
  • Changes in leadership at Partners institutions
    Major changes in leadership at two Partners HealthCare institutions recently were announced: Jeffrey Otten, president of BWH, announced that he is stepping down from his position, and North Shore Medical Center (NSMC) announced the selection of Robert G. Norton as its new president.
  • 25th Annual Great American Smokeout
    MGH employees and staff are invited to participate in the 25th annual Great American Smokeout Nov. 15. The MGH Quit Smoking Service and MGH health centers will offer advice, encouragement and education to assist smokers in quitting or smoking less.
