MGH Downtown
celebrates 10 years of success
It was on Aug. 1, 1994 that MGH Downtown saw its first patient. Now, 17,000
patients and 10 years later, the successful practice recently celebrated
a decade of providing excellent patient care to working professionals
from the financial district and patients referred from the MGH. Members
of the MGH and the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO)
senior leadership joined Mark Costa, MD, medical director of MGH Downtown,
and the rest of the practice staff to mark this milestone at a special
reception Oct. 7.
The reception featured a presentation of some of the highlights of the
practice's successes during the last 10 years, including the adoption
of a new practice model, the introduction of a residency rotation and
the implementation of new technologies such as digital voice dictation,
a radiology online system and a web-based application for patients.
In
looking to the future, the practice plans to continue to implement more
technologies to increase the efficiency of patient care and will be adding
a new staff physician, Laren Abbate, MD.
"We are honored and grateful to have served the MGH over the past
10 years," said Costa. "With the support of MGH and MGPO leadership,
our practice is well prepared to face the 21st century with continued
integrity and excellence in patient care."
Richard
Winickoff, MD, former medical
director of MGH Downtown, presents the
practice with a token of appreciation.
