  • In memoriam: Thomas S. Durant, MD – Beloved MGH physician
    Thomas S. Durant, MD, spent much of his life chasing catastrophe and chaos in some of the world's most forsaken and forlorn spots. This international humanitarian, this caregiver to the world, this complex man who called himself "a simple boy from Dorchester c with a passport," died Oct. 30 at the hospital he loved, after a long and hard-fought battle against cancer. He was 73.
  • Schwartz Center dinner heralds compassionate caregiving
    Kindness and commitment in patient care were recognized and celebrated at the Kenneth B. Schwartz Center's sixth annual dinner Oct. 24. The center – dedicated to supporting and advancing compassionate health care delivery – was founded by Schwartz, a Boston health care attorney who chronicled his experiences as a patient struggling with lung cancer.
