Emergency preparedness drill
The MGH will be participating in an emergency preparedness drill Nov.
8, from approximately 8 am to noon. At that time, employees and staff
who will be participating in the drill will be notified by an overhead
paging system that the drill is in effect. This drill is in collaboration
with other Boston hospitals and state and federal emergency management
agencies to prepare for any type of emergency response. For more information,

Senior HealthWISE seminar
The MGH Senior Supper Club HealthWISE seminar series will offer an educational
seminar "How Sweet It Is: Diabetes Update" Nov. 11, from 4 to
5 pm in the East Garden Dining Room. The seminar will be presented by
Lynne White, RN, from Partners Home Care. Admission is free. For more

Fall women's health symposium
A women's health symposium entitled "Genetic Counseling: What Does
It Mean for Me?" will be held Nov. 6, at 5:30 pm in the O'Keeffe
Auditorium. Guest speakers from the MGH include Bruce R. Korf, MD, medical
director of Harvard-Partners Center for Genetics and Genomics; Kristen
Shannon, genetic counselor in the Breast and Ovarian Cancer Genetics and
Risk Assessment Program; Constance Roche, MSN, nurse practitioner and
genetic counselor for the Avon Foundation Comprehensive Breast Evaluation
Center; and Carrie Haverty, genetic counselor in the MGH Vincent Obstetrics

Health information week
National Health Information Week will be recognized at the MGH Nov. 3
to 9. Information tables will be in the Main Corridor, from 11 am to 2
pm during the week and will offer information about patient confidentiality

Clinical research seminar
The Human Research Committee and the Clinical
Research Program will sponsor "Clinical Researchers Beware: Privacy
Rule is Closer Than You Think" Nov. 12, from 4 to 5 pm in the O'Keeffe
Auditorium. An overview of the new privacy law with specific attention
to its effects on research will be presented. Topics will include identification,
limited data sets, uthorization and how it relates to consent and waiver

CIMIT and Weight Center forum
The Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology (CIMIT),
the Museum of Science and the MGH
Weight Center will sponsor a free public forum entitled, "The
Super-Sizing of America" Nov. 13, from 7 to 8:30 pm at the museum.
Topics include how obesity affects health, its causes and prevention,
and treatment options currently available. Registration begins at 6 pm.

The eighth annual Pri-Med conference and exhibition will be held Nov.

MGH study coordinator pool
The Clinical
Research Program offers study coordinator pool services to MGH investigators
who need full- or part-time study coordination for an indefinite period.
The coordinator pool provides investigators with experienced coordinators
