MGH gets spooky
In the spirit of Halloween, Donna Lawson, RN, of Bigelow 11, organized
a blood drive for her unit Oct. 18 to 22. Approximately 25 percent of
the staff visited the MGH Blood Donor Center throughout the week to donate
blood.
Over
the summer, Lawson noticed there was always a need for
blood at the hospital and wanted to do something to help. "My unit
is always looking for ways to come together and make the hospital a better
place," says Lawson. "So, we wanted to celebrate Halloween by
donating blood."
MassGeneral
Hospital for Children (MGHC) also got into the spirit of Halloween with
a "Monster Bash" - the annual pediatric Halloween party
Oct. 26. At the Monster Bash, hosted by the volunteer group Angels Above,
patients and their families enjoyed goodie baskets filled with treats.
More Halloween fun was had as groups of clowns, princesses and super heroes
led by the MGHC staff, disguised as their favorite sports stars
paraded through the hospital trick or treating Oct. 29.
