happening Domestic
Violence Awareness month
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness month, MGH Police and Security will host
"Creativity and Healing" Oct. 30, from noon to 1 pm in the Walcott Conference
Rooms. HAVEN (Hospitals Helping Abuse and Violence End Now) clients and domestic violence
survivors will be the guest speakers. All are welcome to attend.
EAP seminar
The MGH Employee Assistance Program
(EAP) will sponsor "Working and Breastfeeding," a seminar for
expectant and nursing parents, Nov. 4, from noon to 1 PM in VBK 401. Germaine
Lambergs, RN, IBCLC, will address topics including the use of breast pumps
and how to maintain the milk supply while working. For more

Bowditch
Prize nominations deadline extended
The nomination period for the 2003 Nathaniel Bowditch Prize has been extended to Friday,
Oct. 31. The $5,000 award will be presented to an MGH employee who has helped improve the
quality of care while reducing its cost. Nomination forms are available in the Main Lobby,
the Blum Patient and Family Learning Center, the Bigelow 10 nursing office and the MGPO
office on Bulfinch 2. All nominations should be submitted by Oct. 31 to Andrew Warshaw,
MD, chairman of the Bowditch Prize Selection Committee, White 506. For more information,

Clinical
research program
The MGH Clinical Research Program (CRP) will host two upcoming seminars.
"Using the Web-based Partners Research Patient Data Registry to Find
Patient Cohorts for Clinical Research Studies" will be offered Oct.
29, from 4 to 5 PM in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Shawn Murphy, MD, PhD,
will describe the data comprising the research patient data registry as
well as demonstrate queries and how to register. Both experienced
and new investigators will benefit. "HIPAA What Have We
Learned Since April 14, 2003?" will be offered Nov. 5, from 4 to
5 PM in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Pearl O'Rourke, MD, director of MGH Human
Research Affairs, will focus on areas of HIPAA that continue

Longwood
Symphony Orchestra benefit concert
The Longwood Symphony Orchestra, Boston's orchestra of the
medical community, will perform a concert benefiting the Boston
Health Care for the Homeless Program Nov. 1. The concert will begin at
8 PM at Jordan Hall in Boston. Tickets are $15 for students and seniors,
