In General Bruce D. Walker, MD, director of the Partners AIDS Research Center, will receive the Doris Duke Distinguished Clinical Scientist Award for his project entitled "Immune Reconstitution in HIV Infection." The award is a $1.2 million grant, which Walker can use to further his groundbreaking immune reconstitution research. This research was highlighted in February on the NOVA program, "Surviving AIDS." David P. Corey, PhD, of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at the MGH, has received the 1999 Mirmelstein/Kresge Award for Excellence in Hearing Research. He is professor of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School. |
