MGHers
gather for Unity Service One month after the Sept. 11 tragedy in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania, MGHers gathered in the Bulfinch Tent Oct. 11 for a service of readings, prayers and music to mourn the losses and unite in spirit. The event was sponsored by the MGH Chaplaincy, Employee Assistance Program, International Office, Patient Care Services, Police and Security, Social Services and Volunteer Services. "The world has changed since Sept. 11," said Rev. Mary Martha Thiel, director of MGH Chaplaincy. "All of us will remember the tragedy of that day, but there is something else we must remember, and that is the spirit of unity we all have experienced together."
The event featured readings and prayers from:
Rev. Ana Ruth Higbee Barzola, Evelyn Bonander, Patricia Byrne, Father Phil McGaugh, Bonnie
Michelman, Father Felix Ojimba, Father Celestino Pascual, Firdosh Pathan, Andrea Stidsen,
Thiel, Deborah Washington and Bonnie Zimmer. Musical duo Athene Wilson and Jilson
Schackecz performed songs of comfort and inspiration. |
