Orthopaedic Oncology Surgery guide for patients

Patients who come to the MGH with a bone or soft tissue tumor now have an easy-to-understand resource with the Orthopaedic Oncology Surgery guidebook. The publication was developed by Anne Fiore, RN, NP, a nurse practitioner for Orthopaedic Oncology, with the goal of helping patients understand the complexities of diagnosing and treating these kinds of tumors.101599orthopaedics.jpg (14926 bytes)

"Not knowing whether a tumor is benign or malignant and waiting for the diagnosis is very stressful for patients," says Fiore. "We hope this book will help patients and their families understand this particular disease and treatment, enabling them to have a sense of control over the stressful, unpredictable situation of living with and surviving cancer."

The publication of the guidebook was made possible by two grants from the Friends of the MGH Cancer Center.
