Pastoral Care Week
In recognition of Pastoral Care Week, there will be a celebration in the O'Keeffe Auditorium Oct. 20, 11 am to 2 pm. Information about the MGH Chaplaincy services will be available, along with give-aways and refreshments. Jimmy Tingle, Boston comedian and TV commentator on "60 Minutes II" will make a guest appearance from noon to 12:30 pm. For more information, call 4-1880.

Infection Control Week
Infection Control Week is Oct. 18 to 22, and information regarding protection from diseases will be available in the Main Corridor. There also will be a raffle with prizes including a dinner for two at the Elephant Walk restaurant. A workshop will be held for Nursing Oct.18, 8 am to 4:30 pm, Burr 5 and 6 Conference Rooms. Those participating will earn CEUs. For more information, call 6-3111.

Management strategies
The Clinical Research Program is offering "Management Strategies for Entry-Level Coordinators in Clinical Trials, Phase II/III," Nov. 3, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, 185 Charles River Plaza, second floor, room 118. Latino Heritage Celebration
The third annual Latino Heritage Celebration, sponsored by the Association of Multicultural Members of Partners, will be held Oct. 21, 12:30 pm in Carrie Hall at BWH. Guest speaker will be Adolfo Valadez, MD, of the Martha Eliot Health Center, who will speak about health care diversity in the Hispanic community. RSVP by Oct. 15 to Martha Williams at 732-6462.

Life of a support group
"Life of a Group," a presentation for MGHers, will simulate a cancer support group. Members of a health care team will portray the complicated web of issues cancer patients confront. The program, which is jointly sponsored by MGH Social Services, the Cancer Center and Smith-Kline Beecham, will be held Oct. 26, 8 to 9:30 am in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Stephanie Macaluso Award
Nominations for the Stephanie M. Macaluso, RN, Expertise in Clinical Practice Award are due by Oct. 29. Nomination forms are available at the Gray Lobby desk. Nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, speech and language pathologists, social workers and chaplains are eligible. For more information, call 4-5801.

National Medical Librarians' Month
In celebration of National Medical Librarians' Month, the Treadwell Library is hosting an open house Oct. 27, 10 am to 6 pm, to launch an electronic library from which MGH staff can access the full text of textbooks and journals. A magician will perform in the library and along the covered walkway outside Bartlett Extension. For information, call 4-2784.

Asthma support group
BWH is hosting a Partners asthma support group, Oct. 20, 5 to 6:30 pm in Tower 4B. The topic will be "Developing your Asthma Action Plan." For more information, call 732-7419.

Intergenerational issues in domestic violence
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Employee Assistance Program will present a panel "Intergenerational Issues in Domestic Violence," Oct. 28, noon to 1 pm, in Walcott 2 and 3.

Clinical research coordinator seminar series
The Clinical Research Program is hosting the fourth in a series of "Ethics in Clinical Research" seminars Oct. 28, 11:45 am to 1 pm, Wellman 101 Conference Room. Susan Kornetsky, MPH, of Children's Hospital and Liz Bankert of Dartmouth College will address protecting vulnerable populations in clinical research, cognitively impaired subjects and pediatric subjects. This lecture qualifies for 1.2 CEUs for registered nurses. Lunch will be provided. RSVP by calling 6-1669.

Kenneth B. Schwartz rounds
The 31st Kenneth B. Schwartz rounds will be held Oct. 29, noon to 1 pm, in the Walcott Conference Room. The rounds will feature a discussion about "Sedation for Terminal Distress: Acute Palliative Care and the Principle of Double Effect." Lunch will be provided.
