  • MGH welcomes new Yawkey Center to the family
    The MGH marked a momentous milestone this week with the celebration of the opening of the Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house sessions were held Oct. 13 to welcome patients, staff and guests and to thank the many people who contributed to the planning, building and opening of the center.
  • Back for more: Patriots visit the MGH
    Many MGH pediatric patients were able to meet their sports idols Oct. 5 when members of the New England Patriots visited the hospital throughout the day.
  • Who's got the power?
    Diana Lo of MGH Research has the power to make a difference. As a United Way donor, she can help a young person today become a successful scientist tomorrow. United Way is launching a new program in collaboration with companies in the life science industry to help prepare young people for rewarding careers in math, science and technology-related industries.
  • New way of controlling cholesterol may help treat Alzheimer's
    A new approach to controlling blood cholesterol levels already being investigated to prevent cardiovascular disease also may be a potential treatment for Alzheimer's disease. In their report in the Oct. 14 issue of Neuron, MGH researchers show that blocking a pathway that controls the distribution of cholesterol in cells dramatically reduces the number of amyloid plaques in the brains of transgenic mice.
