Happening Domestic violence awareness
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Domestic Violence Working Group
will sponsor "Hitting Home," a play about abusive teen relationships performed
by high school students, Oct. 19, noon to 1 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. Staff of
the Womens Crisis Center of Greater Newburyport will facilitate a discussion
following the play. Lunch will be served. In addition, donations of clean, gently used
womens business attire will be collected Oct. 17 and 18, from 9 am to 1 pm in the
Main Corridor. The donations will benefit survivors of domestic violence. For more

HOPES seminars
The MGH HOPES (Helping Our Patients and Families through Education and Support) program
will offer "Are you Thinking about Complementary Therapies?" facilitated by
Sandra McLaughlin, LICSW, of MGH Social Services, Oct. 18. Drop-in yoga will be offered
Oct. 19 and 26. "Breast Cancer The Male Perspective: A Discussion for Husbands
and Partners," facilitated by Jeff Mello, LICSW, of MGH Social Services, will be
offered Oct. 20. All seminars are held from noon to 1 pm in the Cancer Resource Room on

Management strategies in
drug studies
"Management Strategies for MGH Entry-Level Research Coordinators in Drug
Studies" will be offered Nov. 8, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm in the Wellman 101 Conference
Room. Speakers will include Paula Sexton of MGH Neurology; Deidre Norris, RN, of the MGH
Epilepsy Service; and Sandra Kogan of BWH Radiology. Registration is required. This course

Vincent Club symposium
The MGH Vincent Club will host a "Fall Medical Symposium and Luncheon," Oct. 30,
9:30 am to 2 pm in the OKeeffe Auditorium. Speakers will include Fredda Zuckerman,
LICSW, of MGH Social Services; Linda Duska, MD, of the MGH Gillette Center for
Womens Cancers; and Isaac Schiff, MD, chief of the Vincent Memorial Obstetrics and

Physical Therapy Month
presentation
"The Development of Clinical Expertise: Implications for the Practicing Physical
Therapist" will be presented in celebration of Physical Therapy Month, Oct. 19, 3:30
to 5 pm in the OKeeffe Auditorium. The speaker will be Laurie Hack, PT, PhD,
director of the Department of Physical Therapy at Temple University in Philadelphia.
Breastfeeding seminar
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will sponsor the lunchtime seminar, "Working
and Breastfeeding: Returning to Work and Maintaining Your Milk Supply While Working,"
Oct. 19, from 1 to 2 pm in VBK 401. Topics such as reverse feeding will be covered. The
seminar will be presented by Germaine Lambergs, RN, lactation consultant. For information,

Friends Fighting Breast
Cancer 5K Run/Walk
Friends Fighting Breast Cancer, a North Shore support group, will host a 5K Run/Walk for
Breast Cancer in Everett Oct. 28 at 10 am. Proceeds will support the work of Daniel Haber,
MD, in breast cancer research at the MGH Center for Risk Analysis. The group welcomes
participants, support and sponsorship for this event. Registration begins at 9 am at the
