Making a change: MGHers to move to new Yawkey Center

Plans have been finalized, measurements have been taken and boxes have been packed for the many MGH employees and staff participating in the first phase of the move to the new Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care, starting Oct. 8 and continuing over the weekend. The doors to the new center will officially open to patients and staff Oct. 12. MGH Orthopædics, Rheumatology, Women's Health services, Cardiology, MassGeneral Hospital for Children, Child Psychiatry and Radiology will be moving during this first phase.

"We've spent a lot of time preparing for this move," says Greg Pauly, chair of the Yawkey Center Operations Committee. "With so many talented people coming together to plan every detail, the clinical programs should be well supported during their transition."

After these MGH employees settle into their new surroundings, the rest of the MGH community will be invited to visit the first floor of the new center at two special open house sessions to be held Oct. 13, from 10 am to noon and from 6 to 8 pm. MGHers will hear celebratory remarks at 10:15 am in the first session and at 6:15 pm during the second session. Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of the MGH; W. Gerald Austen, MD, chair of the MGH Chiefs Council; David Torchiana, MD, chairman and CEO of the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization; and Jeff Davis, senior vice president for Human Resources, will be speaking. Light refreshments will be offered after the remarks.
