HIV and hepatitis C question-and-answer session
The MGH Infectious Disease Division will sponsor "HIV and Hepatitis C Coinfection
Question-and-Answer Evening" Oct. 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the Walcott Conference
Room. The evening will serve as an opportunity for patients who have both HIV and
hepatitis C to learn more about coinfection and treatment options. For more information,

Research town meeting
All members of the MGH research community are invited to attend a research town meeting
Oct. 1, from noon to 1 pm in Conference Room A, Building 114 at CNY. Members of MGH
research leadership will discuss strategic planning for research, research operations
improvement, space planning and human studies.
Seminars in Physiologic Investigation
The MGH Clinical Research Program and the General Clinical Research Center will sponsor a
new series, "Seminars in Physiologic Investigation," held Tuesdays beginning
Oct. 30. The classes will be from 3:30 to 5 pm in the Burr 5 and 6 conference rooms. The
series is designed for junior faculty and fellows interested in clinical research and will
consist of eight weekly seminars covering state-of-the-art techniques for physiologic
investigation in humans. The course fee is $30. Registration is required and enrollment is

Breast cancer walk
MGHers are invited to participate in the "Making Strides for Breast Cancer" walk
Oct. 14. Registration will begin at 8 am, and the walk will start from the MDC Memorial
Hatch Shell on the Esplanade in Boston. Groups of five or more will be considered MGH
sub-teams and should elect a captain to arrange pickup of T-shirts, pins and registration

Memorial service
A memorial service for Joseph W. Gardella, MD, will be held Oct. 5, 3 pm in the Harvard
Chapel. Gardella, a founding member of MGH Internal Medicine Associates, died June 12. A
reception following the service will be held at the Harvard Faculty Club. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to the Joseph W. Gardella, MD, Memorial Endowed Fund at the
MGH, c/o the MGH Development Office, 100 Charles River Plaza, Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114.
The fund will benefit the John D. Stoeckle Center for Primary Care. For more information,
