Wage and salary program announced

The MGH this week announced a fiscal year 2002 wage and salary program that includes a performance-based increase, ranging up to 6 percent. This year's General Hospital program is funded at 4 percent. Those who are above the maximum of their pay range are eligible for a bonus of up to 4 percent. The Massachusetts General Physicians Organization is using a similar approach.

In June 2001, the MGH increased differential rates for all employees who work evenings, nights and weekends. The hospital recently acquired a health club and provides discount memberships to employees as part of the MGH benefits program.

Employees are eligible for a pay increase on their hire anniversary date. A completed performance appraisal is required before any increase or bonus is processed.

In a letter announcing the wage and salary program that was distributed to employees this week, James J. Mongan, MD, president of the MGH, noted the extraordinary efforts of employees to deliver the best care and services to patients.

Employees and staff who have questions about the wage and salary program are encouraged to speak to their supervisors.
