Partners proteomics symposium
MGHers are invited to celebrate the opening of the new Harvard Medical School-Partners HealthCare Center for Genetics and Genomics Proteomics Facility at a symposium Oct. 18, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 20 Sidney St. in Cambridge. A reception and tours of the new facility will be offered following the symposium. To attend, send e-mail to jskim@partners.org.

Domestic violence awareness
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, the hospital's Domestic Violence Working Group will present "Diversity Considerations in Responding to Domestic Violence," Oct. 3, from noon to 1 pm in the Walcott 2 and 3 Conference Rooms. Latino Heritage Month
In recognition of Latino Heritage Month in October, the MGH Latino Heritage Celebration Planning Committee will offer several events. Special food from Latin America will be featured in the Eat Street Cafe Oct. 2 and 9. Displays from local agencies and in-house hospital programs that work with issues affecting the Latino community will be in the Main Lobby Oct. 1, 2 and 3, from 9 am to 2 pm. During the month, there will be a Latino physician photo exhibit displayed on the wall in front of Coffee Central.

Bowditch Prize nominations deadline extended
The deadline for nominations for the 2003 Nathaniel Bowditch Prize has been extended to Oct. 14. The $5,000 award will be presented to an MGH employee who has helped improve the quality of care while reducing the cost of such care. Nomination forms are available in the Main Lobby, the Blum Patient and Family Learning Center, the Bigelow 10 nursing office and the MGPO office on Bulfinch 2. All nominations should be submitted to Andrew Warshaw, MD, chairman of the Bowditch Prize Selection Committee, White 506. For more information, call (617) 726-8254.

MGH Spanish for Health Care classes
The MGH Spanish for Health Care program is accepting applications for classes that begin the week of Sept. 30. Four levels of Spanish classes are offered, including an introductory class for those who have never studied Spanish. The course fee is $50 and must be paid at the time of registration. Tinnitus support group
The next meeting of the Boston Tinnitus Support Group will be held Sept. 30 at 7:30 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Through a teleconference presentation, Zecharya Shemesh, MD, director of the Tinnitus Clinic at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel, will discuss effective treatment for tinnitus. OWC Noontime
Learning Series The Office for Women's Careers will hold its second Noontime Learning Series for Women Oct. 3, from noon to 1 pm in the Burr 5 Conference Room.
