North End health center employees participate in new certificate program

Employees at the North End Community Health Center (NECHC) recently participated in a one-year certificate program, which was developed by the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers and Suffolk University. The program was designed to address many issues facing health center employees, including the enhancement of skills for qualified not-for-profit health center managers. The program also provided career growth and networking opportunities for members of the health center community.

The training program provided full-tuition scholarships for the group and consisted of several five-week training blocks that focused on such topics as human resources, community health center management, marketing, grant writing, finance and public speaking. Graduates from the program also received nine college credits toward a health center management degree.

Several MGHers took part in the program, including Noreen Manning and Bernadette Cogliano of NECHC, Eileen Manning, RN, of the MGH Revere HealthCare Center, and Maria Tovar of the MGH Everett Community Health Center. Five students, including Eileen and Noreen Manning, received certificates of distinction at a graduation ceremony held at Suffolk University in June.
