Charles Street/MGH
T station to get new pedestrian path
Relief is coming for those unable or unwilling to use the pedestrian overpass
that currently connects the hospital to the temporary Charles Street/MGH
T station. A new pedestrian path is being constructed between the temporary
station and the hospital to provide a safe crossing at street level. This
new crossing, which will be protected by barriers and pedestrian traffic
signals and will eliminate conflict with vehicles, is scheduled to open
Oct. 1.
"The MGH, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, and the MBTA have
all worked closely to develop this new crossing,"says Joe Crowley,
of MGH Police, Security and Outside Services. "We hope that this
solution will create a more convenient and safer environment for all pedestrians."
