Child-friendly Pediatric Radiology waiting area opened

MassGeneral Hospital for Children patients who are having a radiographic exam now have a waiting room tailored to their needs. MGH Radiology and MassGeneral Hospital for Children collaborated to create the new Pediatric Radiology waiting room on Ellison 2, a "pedi-friendly"environment that will focus on the needs of young patients.

The waiting room features a built-in slide, books, puzzles and other fun toys. A pediatric coordinator and a child-life specialist also are available to assist parents, children and physicians with all aspects of the patient exam process.

During the Sept. 9 grand opening of the waiting room, Diego Jaramillo, MD, division head of MGH Pediatric Radiology; Denise Palumbo, RN, administrative director for MGH Radiology; James Thrall, MD, chief of MGH Radiology; and R. Alan Ezekowitz, MBChB, DPhil, chief of Pediatrics for MassGeneral Hospital for Children, spoke briefly about how the new waiting room will contribute to better service and care for pediatric patients.
