Cancer Center seminar
The Cancer Center Patient and Family Support Program (PFSP) is offering the following seminar: "Managing Symptoms: What Happens when my Blood Counts are Low?" Payment systems and provider organizations lecture
The Department of Radiation Oncology and the MGH Cancer Center are sponsoring a lecture series about non-clinical issues in health care. The Sept. 22 lecture will cover payment systems and provider organizations and will be held in the Lawrence House, 5 to 6 pm. The lecture can be viewed by satellite at Emerson Hospital. The guest speaker will be Nancy M. Kane, MBA, DBA, of the Harvard School of Public Health. For more information, call 6-8150.

Computer workshops
Partners Information Systems will offer computer workshops about Partners software applications this fall at Charles River Plaza, 185 Cambridge St. For schedules, course descriptions and online registration, log onto helpdesk.partners.org/data and select "Training." Health Day '99
MGH Charlestown and the Boston Evening Medical Center are participating in Health Day '99, a citywide health care initiative, Sept. 18. There will be free health screenings, information on community health centers, giveaways and raffle prizes at 27 sites across the Boston area. MGHers also can enroll their children for free or low-cost health insurance. For a listing of sites and times, call 534-5050.

Friends of the MGH Cancer Center DIALOGUES
The Friends of the MGH Cancer Center will present a DIALOGUE seminar about "The Functional Restoration of Cancer Patients: The Role of the MGH Institute of Health Professions," Oct. 5, 6 pm in the O'Keeffe auditorium. Henry Mankin, MD, of MGH Orthopaedic Oncology, will moderate a panel of experts. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 6-1063.

EAP workshops
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is offering a new parent support group, "Working and Parenting in the First Year," beginning Sept. 21, 1 to 2 pm, and a breastfeeding seminar Sept. 28, 1 to 2 pm, both in the VBK Building, 401. For more information, contact the EAP at 6-6976.

Kenneth B. Schwartz rounds
