• Murals honor heroes, MGH disaster relief teams
  "For many people, Sept. 11 has been on their minds lately because of the one-year anniversary," says Marie LeBlanc, RN, of Ellison 7. "But for our teams, it has never left us." LeBlanc is referring to her MGH colleagues who also were members of the Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) and the International Medical Surgical Response Team (IMSuRT) who were deployed Sept. 11 last year to provide emergency medical care at Ground Zero in New York City. To commemorate the extraordinary efforts of the teams, MGH team members and staff from the MGH Photography Lab prepared several murals that will be displayed on patient care units where many of the team members work.

• MGHers gather for Sept. 11 service of remembrance
  One year after the tragedy that struck New York, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania and affected Boston and the country as a whole, people from around the world gathered Wednesday to remember and commemorate the anniversary of those tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001. MGHers united in the O'Keeffe Auditorium for a memorial service that offered prayer, interfaith readings and poems to remember those who lost their lives and to honor the courage and patriotism the nation has experienced this past year.
  
  

• Nursing at MGH: Simply the Best
  It is a simple slogan – Nursing at MGH: Simply the Best – but it speaks volumes about the exceptional care that is provided at the MGH by the nursing staff. That slogan can be seen in a multi-media advertising and image campaign that was launched in May, with an enhanced effort this fall.
  

• MGH discontinues Secure Horizons participation
  The MGH has made the difficult decision to discontinue its participation in Secure Horizons, effective Jan. 1, 2003. Secure Horizons is the Medicare + Choice plan offered by Tufts Health Plan.
  

• MGH Office for Women's Careers kicks off learning series for women faculty
  The MGH Office for Women's Careers (OWC) kicked off its "Noontime Learning Series," Sept. 5 with the first in a series of monthly seminars that are meant to enhance women faculty members' knowledge and skills so that they will be better equipped to advance in their careers.
