Something
old, something new: Yawkey Center update
On
Oct. 12, the first phase of moving for the Yawkey Center for Outpatient
Care will begin, welcoming employees and patients to the new center. With
anticipation and excitement at the hospital and the Yawkey Center, hundreds
of employees are working diligently to ensure that the transition will
go as smoothly as possible. Below are a few guidelines for what will change
and what will stay the same at the new center.
Staying the same
- The address for the Yawkey Center will remain the same as the hospital:
55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA, 02114.
- Most practice phone numbers, fax numbers and e-mail addresses will
remain the same.
- Security for the Yawkey Center will remain the same as on campus.
There will be 24-hour security for all entrances and exits. ID badge
access also will remain the same.
- There will be daily mail pick-up and drop-off.
- All emergency numbers will remain the same: Police and Security (6-2121);Code
Blue (Cardiac Arrest) and Code Red (Fire) (6-3333); Infection Control
(6-2036); Employee Assistance Program (6-6976); Occupational Health
(6-2217).
- Below is a list of phone extensions that will remain the same for
employees at the Yawkey Center.

Changes to expect
- Hours of operation for Yawkey Center practices generally will be Monday
through Friday, from 8 am to 6 pm. Some practices also will have extended
and/or weekend hours as needed.
- To ensure that exam room space is used efficiently to optimize workflow
and to minimize peaks in ancillary services, practices will maintain
level scheduling.
- Practices will be sharing common space, such as staff lounges, locker
rooms and a medical records room.
- Supplies will be stocked centrally by Materials Management staff.
Supply Support and Linen Services have a new phone number - (617) 643-1140.
- There will be conference rooms located at the Yawkey Center that will
be available for the MGH community.
- A new patient tracking system will be piloted in Yawkey practices
to help improve staff communication, increase accessibility of information
throughout patient visits, and provide employees with data for workflow
analysis.
MGHers can expect updates in upcoming issues of Hotline. Employees
are encouraged to speak to their managers with specific questions about
the Yawkey Center.
