EAP eating disorders presentation
The MGH Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will begin its fall Work/Life Seminar Series with a presentation about eating disorders Sept. 13. The seminar will be held from noon to 1 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. Anne Becker, MD, PhD, of MGH Psychiatry, will provide information about the symptoms and complications of eating disorders, as well as treatment options. MGH Nursing Career Expo
The MGH will host a Nursing Career Expo Sept. 16, from noon to 4 pm in the North and East Garden Dining Rooms. Staff nurses and clinical nurse specialists are invited to meet with nursing leadership, clinical educators and other staff nurses. Participants will tour MGH nursing units and receive more information about MGH Nursing. Two courses, each awarding 1.2 contact hours, also will be offered. "Delirium in the Hospitalized Older Adult: Nursing Assessment and Interventions" will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. "Nursing Management of the Patient Undergoing Electrophysiology Studies and Implantation of the Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator" will be held from 2 to 3 pm. MGH Cancer Center's HOPES Program events
The MGH Cancer Center's HOPES (Helping Our Patients and Families through Education and Support) Program will offer several events and seminars this month. Oncology social worker Jeff Mello, MSW, LICSW, will present "The Male Perspective: Prostate Cancer Support" Sept. 12, from noon to 1 pm. Michael McElhinny, Oncology chaplain, will facilitate "Fear of Death: Spiritual Resources" Sept. 17, from noon to 1 pm. Art therapist Elizabeth Cook will offer "The Healing Power of Creative Expressions" Sept. 18 and 25, from 1 to 2 pm. Yoga instructor Luba Zagachin will offer yoga classes Sept. 13, 20 and 27, from noon to 1 pm. All events are held in the Cancer Resource Room on Cox 1. For more information, call (617) 72-HOPES.

Weight management class
MGH Nutrition Services will offer a 10-week weight management class, "Winning at the Losing Game," beginning Sept. 25. The class will meet every Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, and will include nutrition education from a registered dietitian, an exercise program supervised by a physical therapist and martial arts instructor and behavioral modification to assist with lifestyle change. The course fee is $225 for MGH employees, and $240 for all others. Participation is limited to 15 people. For more information, call (617) 726-2779.

POPPS educational fair
MGH Police, Outside Services, Parking and Photography Services (POPPS) will present an educational fair, featuring the fourth annual MGH Amateur Photography Contest, Sept. 14, from 11 am to 4 pm under the Bulfinch Tent. MGHers are invited to learn about the department and the programs and services it offers, such as crime prevention, community policing, photo identification badges, special investigations, photo services and more. Also participating in this year's fair will be the MGH Employee Assistance Program, Hospitals Helping Abuse and Violence End Now (HAVEN), the Safety Department and the Office of Patient Advocacy. HIV and Women symposium
The MGH Neuroendocrine Unit and the Partners Center for AIDS Research will sponsor "HIV and Women: Epidemiology, Immunology and Metabolism," Sept. 17, from 8 am to 3 pm at the Starr Conference Center, 185 Charles River Plaza.
