Healthy hearts, longer lives

Keeping a healthy heart was the topic of discussion at the fourth MGH Senior Supper HealthWISE educational seminar held Aug. 26 in the hospital's East Garden Dining Room. Dorothy (Dottie) Noyes, NP, of MGH Cardiology, spoke to a group of neighborhood seniors about the importance of maintaining their cardiac health. A lively question-and-answer session followed the presentation. The seminar is one of many scheduled throughout the fall to offer information about a variety of topics from injury prevention tips to managing blood pressure.
The seminars are a part of the MGH Senior HealthWISE (wellness, involvement, support and education) program that was launched this summer to provide important resources for seniors living in neighborhoods near the hospital's main campus. The next seminar will be held Sept. 23, from 4 to 5 pm, in the East Garden Dining Room. The program, "What's up Doc?" will feature a presentation by Jim Hayes of Match-up Interfaith Volunteers. For more information about MGH Senior HealthWISE, call (617) 724-6756.
