A cause with heart

MGHers are ready to lace up their sneakers for a cause with heart. For several years the MGH has participated in the annual American Heart Association's (AHA) Boston Heart Walk, but this year the walk is the hospital's second official charity in addition to the United Way.

Peter L. Slavin, MD, at left, president of the MGH, will be the medical chair of thewalk and has set the fundraising bar a little higher — with a goal of $100,000. Last year, the MGH helped raise $40,000 for the AHA.

The Heart Walk will take place Sept. 18 at Lederman field across Storrow Drive. After a complementary breakfast, walkers will have the choice of three different routes: one, three or six miles. For more information, contact Julie Brenman at (617) 726-8295 or Susan Towler at (617) 726-4939.
