Partners researchers move into new residence

MGH and BWH researchers have begun moving into a new Partners research facility located at 65 Lansdowne St. in Cambridge, marking the first time that MGH and BWH research programs will be housed under one roof.

"This venture exemplifies the true collaborative spirit with which Partners first was established," says Samuel O. Thier, MD, president and CEO of Partner HealthCare. The new venue will be home to both institutions' Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovation Technology (CIMIT); the Partners AIDS laboratory; the MGH's infectious diseases-bacterial pathogenesis laboratory, diabetes research and obstetrical/gynecology research; BWH's radiology and cardiovascular medicine research; BWH's Center for Neurologic Diseases; and BWH's National Resource for Imaging Mass Spectrometry.

"Our joint clinical and teaching programs are indications of how well BWH and the MGH can work together, so bringing some of our research programs together in one location should be quite successful," says Eugene Braunwald, MD, vice president of Academic Programs for Partners. MGH and BWH researchers have begun moving their operations into the new building, which is nestled in the research office complex known as University Park at MIT.
