Neurology hosts Parkinson's disease investigators

Partners and MGH Neurology recently hosted the annual meeting for the Morris K. Udall Centers of Excellence for Parkinson's Disease Research. Anne B.Young, MD, PhD (near right), chief of MGH Neurology and director of the MGH Center for Aging, Genetics and Neurodegeneration, gave opening remarks for the three-day annual meeting, which brought together 125 investigators from around the country to discuss the latest developments in Parkinson's disease research. There are 11 Udall centers located throughout the United States - including one combined center at the MGH/MIT, one at McLean, and one at BWH. The centers are funded by the National Institutes of Health to focus on research to improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with Parkinson's disease and related neurodegenerative disorders. The annual meeting featured a poster session, reception, dinner and a lecture by Nobel Prize winner Paul Greengard, PhD (far right), from Rockefeller University, New York.
