Senior HealthWISE seminar
The MGH
Senior HealthWISE seminar program will offer "Sadness and Loss:
How Do We Deal With It?" Aug. 25, from 4 to 5 pm in the East Garden
Dining Room. Gail Leslie, RNCS, of the MGH Acute Psychiatry Service, will
discuss what causes sadness, symptoms of grief and loss, and strategies

Nominations for PCS award
Nominations now are being accepted for the Anthony Kirvilaitis Jr. Partnership
in Caring Award. The award recognizes Patient Care Services (PCS) staff
in nonclinical roles who exemplify the values of reliability, responsiveness,
creativity and flexibility. Colleagues may nominate any MGH nonclinician
who is part of the PCS staff Ð including operations associates, operating
room assistants and patient care service coordinators. Nomination forms
are located on each patient care unit, at the Gray information desk, in
the Emergency Department, on Bigelow 10 and in the Operating Room Nursing
Office. All nominations must be received by Aug. 29. Awardees will receive
$1,500 and will be acknowledged at a ceremony and reception. For more

Ovarian cancer survivors symposium
The Ovarian Cancer Education Awareness Network at the MGH is hosting a
symposium, "Ovarian Cancer Survivors: Striving, Driving and Thriving"
Sept. 13 in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. The program will consist of presentations
and breakout sessions by health professionals and survivors. Topics will
include updates in diagnosis and treatments and strategies for managing

Annual MGH photo contest
The MGH
Photography Department will host the sixth annual MGH Photo Contest
this year. This competition is open to all MGH and Partners employees.
All entries should be submitted by Sept. 19. Winners will be announced
Sept. 25 at the POPPS Fair under the Bulfinch Tent where all photos will
be displayed. Entry forms are available at the MGH Photography Department,
Police and Security main office, CNY Building 149 security desk and the
Fruit Street Garage Parking Office.
Institute of Health Professions seminar
The MGH Institute of Health Professions is sponsoring "Health Care
Strategies for HIV/AIDS in Limited Resource Settings" Sept. 26, from
8 am to 4 pm at CNY. The seminar will focus on the role of public health
hospitals, the homeless population, immigrant and migrant populations,
prison settings and HIV/AIDS care in Africa, India, Vietnam and the Ukraine.
The fee for the seminar is $60. Registration is due Sept. 5. For more
