Everyday, everywhere, all the time: WEAR your ID badge

With the upcoming visit from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), MGH Police and Security would like to remind all employees to wear their photo ID badge. In addition to state law and JCAHO regulations, hospital policy requires all MGH staff, employees, volunteers and students to wear a hospital identification badge while on duty. The badge is meant to ensure patients, visitors and other hospital staff of the identity and department of the person wearing the badge.

"There are so many people who pass through these halls everyday. An ID badge is one of the only ways to identify if a person is where they should be," says Bonnie Michelman, director of MGH Police, Security and Outside Services. In an effort to spread awareness about the importance of wearing ID badges, MGH Police and Security has implemented a new campaign to help remind employees to wear their badges. The "WEAR" campaign (See poster above that features hospital leadership) is designed to increase awareness and compliance by all employees and staff.

Employees who need a badge may visit the Photo ID office located in the Clinics Basement, room 045A. For more information, call (617) 724-3916.
