Patel receives top honor

A member of the MGH Orthopaedic staff, Dinesh Patel, MD, chief of MGH Arthoscopic Surgery, recently received the 2003 John Clark Leadership Award — one of the highest awards of the Federation of State Medical Boards. This is the first time a physician from Massachusetts has received the honor.

Patel was selected for the prestigious award because of his outstanding contributions to the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, the Federation of State Medical Boards and the field of medical censure and discipline. Established in 1986 in memory of the Federation's 61st president, the award recognizes individuals, such as Patel, who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, commitment to the advancement of public good and dedication to the field of medical licensure and discipline at the state and national level.

Patel received the honor during the Federation's recent annual meeting in Chicago. Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney also presented Patel with a special certificate on behalf of the Commonwealth during the ceremony.
