physicians play ball A group of 17 physicians from the MGH and BWH had the opportunity to fulfill their childhood dreams Aug. 6, when they played ball in Fenway Park. The physicians were a part of a day-long fundraiser to benefit Boston's oldest anti-poverty agency, Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD). The team of physicians squared off against a team from Prudential Securities in a six-inning game. Dennis Ausiello, MD, chief of Medicine at the MGH, who was a catcher during his student years at Harvard, was co-captain of the Partners team with Patrick O'Gara, MD, director of Clinical Cardiology at BWH. Established in 1962, ABCD serves more than 100,000 low-income Boston residents every year. Its neighborhood programs include Head Start, fuel assistance, adult literacy, child care, job training, education and housing programs throughout Boston. |
