A
day of easy breathingMore than 240 people patients, families and MGH staff celebrated life-saving ECMO therapy at the 10th annual ECMO picnic Aug. 5 at Curry College in Milton. ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) therapy allows immature or damaged lungs to mature or heal by mechanically replacing lung function. At right, Terry Frechette kisses his daughter, Hannah, one of the many happy faces of ECMO recipients. The picnic included a magician, a puppeteer, swimming, arts and crafts, and a barbecue.
